Anyway, we are still finalizing our itinerary (apart from our service placements) but I thought you may want to check out some of our options.....
Cave Tubing:
Even though I'm very excited to try this, I have to be honest and say that I'm really anxious about it. I have a slight case of claustrophobia and I'm not sure if I could handle being in a dark and enclosed space for long. Who knows what could be lurking in those caves? Yikes! Then again after reading a multitude of reviews I think I'm ready to take a deep breath and chase the challenge. Apparently the whole experience is a "real life journey through the Mayan underworld" that goes through rain forests and caves that reveal how the Mayans worshipped, how and where they made their sacrifices, and even insects they considered to be magical (and creepy!). Let's just hope my curiosity won't kill me.
Check out the Blue Hole:
This is for the other geeks out there but in case you're out of the loop, the Blue Hole is the second largest barrier reef in the world. It was even a dry cave system back in the ice age....another testimony that the ice age really occurred. Er...maybe? Maybe not?!
Zip Lining:
YEAH!!!!! This will be quite a thrill! Imagine hiking through a jungle, climbing up an extremely high platform and swinging (with a harness) all the way down. The perfect dosage of adrenaline rush ;)
Mayan Ruin hopping:
I've always been curious how such a powerful civilization like the Mayans collapsed and disappeared so mysteriously. It will be very interesting to check out what's left of their lifestyles, rituals and maybe even come across their sacred secrets.
Snorkel, scuba and check out the island life on Caye Caulker:
For the last leg of our trip, we will be exploring the small 4 mile island of Caye Caulker. It's a lot more rural than Belize City, but it will be a nice escape to white sand beaches, jungle tours and all around chillaxing.
I'm sure there are a ton of other things to explore, but this is what we have planned so far. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
