Ready to seize the best of Belize

1...2....3.......GO!  BELIZE HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  In just a few hours and if I can survive this hectic work day, I am leaving San Francisco to join Bev and Diane in Belize City.

I was beginning to think this day would never come.  The past few weeks have been really stressful with work and the rest of life that I am so ready to tuck them all away and make the most of all the refreshments....er I mean relaxation....Belize has in store for me.  I've also been getting a lot of really profound insight from friends and family to prepare for our trip.

Here are three passages that have really struck me
1.  If you keep your food in a fridge, your clothes in a closet, have a roof over your head and sleep in a bed, you are wealthier than 75% of the world's populations.

2. "If you have come to help me, you are wasting your time.  But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with me, then let us work together." (An aboriginal proverb)  We are not there to help, nor are we ahead, but we are simply there to be one with the community.

3. Most of us constantly juggle between two seekers in life, that of a tourist and a pilgrim.  The tourist in us wears us out and seeks for treasures that tarnish, while the pilgrim in us seeks for a sense of home and purpose.

There is a power in you, a truth in you that has not yet been tapped.
You are blinded with a blindness that is deep, for you've not loved the pilgrim in you yet.
There is a road that runs straight through your heart.  Walk on it.
To be a pilgrim means to be on the move, slowly;
to notice your luggage becoming lighter;
to be seeking for treasures that do not rust;
to be comfortable with your heart's questions;
to be moving forward the holy ground of home,
with empty hands and bare feet.
And yet, you cannot reach that home until you've loved the pilgrim in you.
One must be comfortable with the pilgrimhood before one's feet can touch the homeland.
Do you want to go home?
There is a road that runs straight through your heart.
Walk on it.

So with all that being said, my mind is wide open and my heart is ready to seize the best of Belize.  Please keep in touch and leave comments as we share our experiences throughout this trip.

Till the next post from beautiful Belize.........cheers!
